Tips To Get Kids To Sleep Earlier

September 8th, 2015

If you are a parent, you likely know how difficult it can be to get your kids to sleep, and often times once they are asleep, it might not last for long. So what’s the trick? The trick is to ease your kids into a sleep schedule, and adjust them to consistent sleep times. Here are three tips that should help to ease this transition:

  1. Begin preparing for bed an hour before going to sleep. This can include a routine of taking a shower, brushing teeth, getting pajamas on, and reading a book in bed. This routine will help signal your child’s body that it is preparing for sleep.
  2. If you seem to go to bed too late, begin shifting the schedule by 15 minutes a day, rather than making a huge jump to an earlier bed time. This will help ease into the sleep process discussed in number one.
  3. Assure your child’s bedding is appropriate for the weather, clean, and comfortable for a long night’s sleep. This will help your child sleep through the night.
