When is it time to get a new mattress?

January 1st, 2016

Purchasing a new mattress is a huge decision for most people. A mattress can make a huge difference in your energy level throughout the day, mood, and can even help to alleviate any aches and pains.

In most cases, people dont seem to want to purchase a new mattress unless they absolutely need a new one. Most studies show that people should get a new mattress every five to ten years, to allow for the maximum sleep quality. Of course, it really depends on the amount of wear and tear your mattress is getting.

Here are a few suggestions for deciding whether or not you need a new mattress:

Aches and Pains? If you wake up with sore shoulders or other body parts, chances are you need a new mattress. One way to help determine if the causes of these aches and pains is to look at the bare mattress. If there are any grooves or edges sticking out, this means you need a new mattress.

Mattress Hygiene: If your room changes smells when you jump into bed, or wake up to add scents coming from your bed, it is time to get a new mattress.

Sleep Quality: If you toss and turn throughout the night, or wake up in the middle of the night, your quality of sleep is poor. This could be a result of your mattress, and it could be time to get a new one.
